For Campus Departments

Departments are encouraged to view the current surplus inventory between 8 - 10 AM on Tuesdays at our west campus location, or by contacting our Surplus staff at 393-4256 to make an appointment.

Priority will be given to campus departments for the redistribution of surplus items. Items available for redistribution on campus will have a predetermined, nominal price determined by ESP staff, and an additional fee will be charged for delivery.

Criteria ESP staff use to establish surplus property value listed below:

• Original cost of the surplus item.
• Current price of a replacement item.
• Condition of item.
• Quantity of items in storage.

ESP will assess a $23 per hour per person delivery fee in addition to the material charge. Departments may choose to pick-up items by appointment at no charge.

For Non-Profit Organizations (501 [c] 3 Charitable Organizations)

After surplus item has been stored for 2 weeks, it will be available for donation to non-profit organizations which have been approved by the KU Property Accounting Services Department. To confirm that your organization is on the approved list, please click here.

If your organization does not appear on the list please contact Janet Mears, Property Accountant, jmears@ku.edu, or call 864-5975 to be added to the approved list.
Surplus items will be shown by appointment only and are available on a first-come-first-served basis. No delivery is available, and items may not be returned. Selected items will be considered a donation. Non-profits receiving donated surplus items must present a letter listing the selected items and acknowledging transfer.

For Public Auction Information

At this time, ESP cannot sell surplus items directly to the public. However, individuals may bid on surplus items online via Purple Wave, our preferred auction affiliate. Purple Wave, is an auction service based out of Manhattan, Kansas that features live and internet bidding on listed items.

The following dates link to multiple internet auctions. These auctions contain items listed by the University of Kansas, as well as other organizations. In order to view auction items listed by the University of Kansas, select an item category, and then check for "University of Kansas" in the description. All items sold by the University of Kansas on Purple Wave are PICK-UP ONLY, no delivery is available. Please read the terms and conditions before you bid.
