Environmental Stewardship Program

Printer Cartridges

Printer Cartridge Recycling Program Each year, over 700 million ink cartridges are consumed in the United States. A small fraction of empty ink cartridges are recycled, but many more end up in landfills. Leaking ink from used cartridges can pollute the environment, and the plastic they're made of will take many generations to decompose. Up to three quarts of oil are needed to produce a single printer cartridge.

Through a partnership with Cartridge King of Kansas we are able to offer ink/toner printer cartridge recycling in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way. Through this program we hope to increase the recycling of printer cartridges on campus by making it more accessible to all of campus. This free service will now be extended towards students as well and not just faculty and staff. You are all more than welcome to bring used cartridges from your home as well.

If you have printer cartridges that you'd like to recycle, please place them at your current recycling location with a note saying "Recycle." If you have a printer cartridge bin already, please continue to use it.
